   Head lice and body lice (aka “crabs”) are actually two different infestations. Both, however, will recur despite treatment if you are becoming re-exposed or if you are not properly treating your personal items (clothes, bedding, grooming items, etc.) Head lice or body lice will respond to over-the-counter treatments if you can prevent being re-exposed. Body lice can also be treated by shaving your body hair.

   Contact a local homeless shelter and ask for advice, they deal with this all the time, and you don’t have to tell then who you are.

   I remember my little sister having head lice once…and no over the counter or prescription treatment worked. My mom finally slathered mayonaise in her hair once or twice a day for a couple of days, then wrapped her head in saran wrap for about 20 minutes before rinsing. I don’t remember the specifics, but I remember it worked!!!!
