Use the over the counter products, like Rid, they work great. To ease the problem of getting all the eggs and nits out of the hair, rinse your hair with vinegar, it loosens the eggs/nits hold and you can comb them out easier. Be sure to treat bedding, fabric toys, furniture, pillows, anything that can hold the little critters, it can get quite expensive, but really is the only way to be sure your family will not get reinfected. If your child plays with others, or attends school, be sure that those children aren’t passing the bugs back and forth. Most schools require all nits/eggs be removed before the child can go back, so making sure everyone that plays/hangs out together gets treatment is paramount.

I think mayo applied throughout hair then wrapped in plastic wrap for half an hour works but your hair smells afterwards. If not, use RID.

If you or the school nurse find lice in your child’s hair, eradicate them with an over-the-counter shampoo or rinse that contains pyrethrin, a safe, natural insecticide. Never use products containing lindane, a powerful chemical, on children under six.

Wash, dry-clean, or spray with pyrethrin everything the child has come in contact with.

With a fine-toothed comb dipped in vinegar, check your child’s hair strand by strand, every night until you find neither lice nor their eggs, known as nits. To prevent a recurrence, tell the child not to share combs, hats, or earphones.

    Hopes this helps you.

whatever you do, please do not pour gasoline on your poor child’s head. Very dangerous, you could cause serious irriversible harm to your child’s skin, you can leave them serously burned and scarred, if not dead.

Sorry, i heard a mother do this before b/c she was trying to get rid of her child’s lice.

i have three girls that kept getting lice at school, and the over the counter lice shampoos do not work…. use a dandruff shampoo and a good conditioner, the conditioner helps the nits to slide out easily.
